The Nazareth Open $10,000 tennis tournament for women will take place from October 23 to 30 in the historic city where Jesus spent his childhood. The city is a blend of modern and ancient; it is a major tourist attraction, a flourishing centre for the whole of the Galiliee region and a place of religion and contemplation.
The tennis school, where the tournament takes place is in the grounds of the YMCA and the event is in partnership with the Nazareth Municipality, the YMCA and the Nazareth Organization for the Promotion of Tennis. This will be first ever international sports event to be held in Nazareth.
The tournament is held in memory of Freddie Krivine (1920 – 2005) who as President of the Israel Tennis Association and Director of Women’s Tennis in Israel was instrumental in the refurbishment of these courts. The Tournament Director will be Jane Krivine, the assistant Tournament Director will be Danny Meder, with Pavel Lisovtsev, Superintendent and Yona Yair, Administrator.
This $10,000 Women’s ITF Tournament will be the third held in Israel this year (the others being Eilat in February and Ra’anana in May).
